A Summer that Lasts Forever

DSCF1409
Evening sun over the rooftops
And feeling just like a child
That’s how I remember
The way that Laura smiled
Sometimes at the factory
A trace of worry showed
But many stopped to bathe awhile
In Laura’s gentle glow
She said, “Come and see me
When it’s rainy weather
We’ll kneel down and pray and we’ll see our way
To a summer that lasts forever”
She was still young when she went away
It was cancer I heard
Now many stop to see the stone
Engraved with these words:
“Come and see me
When it’s rainy weather
We’ll kneel down and pray and we’ll see our way
To a summer that lasts forever”
